Selene has stood inside the Kastro walls since roughly 1680, when a Naxian sea captain stacked her three storeys above the town. Behind a door you would walk straight past, the house unfolds as a moon-white maze: marble courtyards, vaulted salons, stairs that always seem to find another terrace.
The top of the house is the point: a ninety-square-metre roof terrace with the whole of Chora below, the Portara catching the last light, and dinner served as the moon comes up over the sea. A plunge pool in the lower courtyard handles the afternoons.

The Kastro is the medieval heart of Naxos Town, a hilltop citadel of marble lanes, Venetian coats of arms and sudden sea views. Everything is on foot from the front door: the morning market, the harbour cafés, the Portara at sunset, and a beach good enough that you'll forgive it for being this close to town.
